2025 Wrapped: A Year of Momentum, Milestones, and More for MSP Billing

Datagate 2025 year in review, recap of MSP telecom billing updates, trends, and insights

As 2025 comes to a close, one thing is clear: MSPs are thinking differently about telecom billing.

Whether we were in Sydney, Salt Lake City, London, or Las Vegas, the message was the same: providers want smarter workflows, better margin protection, and tools that work the way they do. And most of all, they want telecom billing that’s not just accurate, but integrated and scalable.

This year  we focused heavily on those themes, listening closely to feedback, building with intention, and releasing updates that help MSPs take control of their billing operations.

Here’s a look at what moved the needle in 2025, and what it means for 2026.

Hundreds of Product Enhancements to Simplify MSP Billing Workflows

Telecom billing is no longer seen as a back-office task. It’s now central to customer experience, profitability, and cash flow.

That shift in mindset shaped how we approached the platform this year, from large-scale infrastructure improvements to small UX tweaks designed to save users hours.

We made more enhancements this year than ever before, not to pile on features, but to remove friction.

  • 🧰 280+ platform updates designed to remove friction and help MSPs scale.
  • 🛠️ 51 interface enhancements across PSAs, tax engines, accounting platforms, and payment systems.
  • 🆕65 new telecom data feed formats mapped to support a growing ecosystem of providers.
  • 🔧 Ongoing improvements to infrastructure speed and reliability, ensuring the platform stays fast and responsive, even at scale.

All of it in service of a core belief: providers shouldn’t have to work around their telecom billing system. The billing system should work for them.

Reconciliation: From Nice-to-Have to Strategic Imperative

One of the clearest signals we picked up at events like NetSapiens UGM and Kaseya Connect APAC was this: MSPs are now prioritizing rebilling accuracy as a key part of margin protection.

That’s why we’re building a new reconciliation module, designed to help MSPs identify gaps between supplier invoices and customer billing.

This tool is still in early development, but interest has been high. Conversations about reconciliation have shifted from “maybe someday” to “we need this now.” And we’re building with that urgency in mind.

Most Talked-About Topics in 2025

MSPs and telecom providers told us exactly what’s on their minds—and we listened. The most discussed challenges and priorities this year included:

  • Billing automation
  • PSA integrations
  • Tax compliance
  • Rebilling accuracy
  • Margin protection
  • Reconciliation

These themes guided product updates, webinar topics, and industry conversations throughout the year.

Integration: Still the Difference Maker

In 2025, the market spoke loud and clear, MSPs are done with disconnected tools. Every conversation we had around scale, margin, or automation circled back to this: “Does it integrate?

That’s why we focused so much energy on refining our interfaces with HaloPSA, ConnectWise, Autotask, QuickBooks, CCH® SureTax®, Alternative Payments, Benji Pays, and more. It’s also why we invested in expanding our feed mapping engine to support 65+ new supplier formats.

The goal is always the same: get accurate data in, generate compliant invoices out, and do it without the swivel-chair workflows.

The Billing Pain Points We Heard Most

At events, in meetings, and online, these challenges kept popping up:

  • Duplicate Data Entry
  • Missed margins and revenue leakage
  • Delayed payments from disconnected workflows
  • Confusion around telecom tax rules
  • Inconsistent invoice branding

If you’re facing any of these heading into 2026, we should talk.

On the Road with MSPs Around the World

This year, we had more face-to-face conversations with MSPs than ever before.

From APAC to North America to the UK, we joined the MSP and telecom communities at industry events across three continents. These in-person connections gave us an unfiltered view into what’s working, what’s not, and where telecom billing workflows still need to evolve.

What stood out across every region was how aligned the challenges were: disconnected systems, slow invoicing cycles, and the need for better visibility into margins. Those conversations weren’t just insightful. They helped directly shape product priorities and partner strategies for 2026.

A huge thank you to everyone we met along the way. We’ll see you again soon.
